What this plugin does

The standard WordPress comments form is restricted only to name, URL, email and comments. With our powerful plugin (we call ECF), you can make your standard WordPress Comment Form extra useful by adding your own, customised fields.

Sol, seems that you have written a reasonable plugin – buuut you want us to hand over money to a site with barely a name or address or anything. Why don’t you offer it via the wordpress community for the good of everyone who uses wordpress ?

  We will be releasing a very basic version free for the WordPress community, in the near future.
  However, if you want all the features, these are only available in the premium version.

Found your plugin and I was wondering:
Are you able to remove the Website field or do I have to do that through comment.php?
Does this have a customizable email template? I need to send the admin notification formatted so that they can just print it on a letterhead.
(the “comments” will never be displayed on the site, just emailed to the admin where they print it off)

  Our plugin does not remove the existing fields on the standard comment form as these are added by default from WP.
  So, yes, you’d have to modify the comments form template for that.
  
  The email that is sent to the admin is simply the same standard email that WP sends normally, but with the extra fields in there too.
  
  I suspect that if you wanted to, you could modify how WP sends that email.
  Or, if you wanted us to look into doing that for you, we would charge extra as it would be a customised install.

  The plugin has been successfully tested with Arabic, so I don’t think it would be an issue with Russian.

can I use the plugin for post rating? And is it possible to output average rating + total votes in the post?

Hi Solaceten,

Is it possible to limit the custom fields to certain custom post types? I need to allow image upload in the comments on a custom post type, but not have it available for normal blog posts and other custom post types?

  You can certainly limit the custom fields to display only on specific posts by specifying the post / page ID. You can also limit the custom fields to display only on certain post categories, so if your custom posts are in a category, that would be possible.

Can your plug-in add a field that looks identical to the three default choices? Can it be inserted in between those three choices? Specifically, I would like the comment form to list: Name, Job Title or Expertise (optional), E-mail (spelled correctly with the hyphen), Website, Comment.

And is that extra space between Name, E-mail, Website necessary? Can it be eliminated?

  YES. The extra fields appear after the Website URL and before the comment text box. You can easily add the extra fields as you have specified, and using CSS you can declare visibility none for the standard WP comment form fields (effectively hiding them).

  Extra space? Not sure what you mean… You can fully customise the CSS to change the way your comment form shows.

    If I buy the plug-in, are there instructions that walk you through setting it up?
    
    I don’t know anything about css and the few times I’ve messed with it, I’ve killed my site. It makes me very nervous.
    
    As an aside, I don’t like having to fill in all this same information all over again when I’m replying to my own post. It’s annoying.

The image upload seems to have quit working on me. The comment is going through, but without the image – and the wp_comments_fields table doesn’t show the image being saved. Any idea what could be causing this?

Hi! Interested in your plugin! I have one question though….

Would it be hard to change the position of an answer to go say below the comment or beneath the avatar (if it’s short)? I guess it would involve adding a class to the field output so it can be styled separately as I see currently it’s just put under the p tag. If that’s possible & you could help me with that, I’d be very interested! Also, is there an option to not display the question being asked, but only the answer?
